A Whole New Blogging Experience

A Whole New Blogging Experience

Well over the last few weeks i have been working on a brand new Content Management System for slater.john and today i'm happy to launch it, along with a brand new design.

The reason behind the change is simply to make it easier for me to post, it was also a chance for me to refresh my PHP knowledge and implement new techniques that have been learnt over the last 2 years. The first noticeable thing is the lack of content, i decided that the majority of the content on the old website was sat their for no reason and it really did nothing, so i removed it. As a result i have a brand new website with a nice clean look, minimal content and more of a blog.

The Old Slater John

The website is no more, there is no way to access the content (unless it was the small amount of content i brought over in the change) and i would like to start from scratch, hence the reason for the new website. All of my small projects will be placed in my portfolio (whenever i get round to that) and will not be made public, just because.

What Can We Expect?

The new website is here to bring you more of my blog posts about random topics, only this time it will be in a better format, easier to read and also categorised making it easier to find similar posts.

You can also expect a more up to date Life Feed (formally Minifeed) with more information on what i'm listening to, reading and sharing. I have also implemented a new system that allows me to share links directly into the content, so whenever i find something new it will appear on the front page with the rest of the content - truly making the website more up to date.

Future Features

Like the old blog i will be constantly developing the system and i will be adding a nice selection of features including a YouTube Gallery and Photo Gallery, i will also be using the new system as the platform for more topical blogs that i have planned for the new future.

Sit Tight

Backstage work is still being done so please don't expect masses of content just yet, as soon as i have completed the main features and made it easier for myself to post i will be posting more of my wacky posts/rants.
