Stolen Gamer Tag with over 51000 GS Points

Posted on 13 Apr 2008 13:59:10 by John Slater
So last week i heard from a friend (Dean) that his Microsoft Xbox Live account had been stolen. This didn't happen on its own, yes he fell into a stupid phishing trap which some might say is his own fault.

Yes he was stupid BUT it is a trap many people have fallen in to. This isn't just any normal account, this is an Xbox Live account with over 51,000 points and to some gamers may be seen as extremely valuable. As well as the several tens-of-thousands Gamer Score Points that his account possesses his account also contains stored credit card information so that he can purchase things from the Marketplace on Xbox Live as well as several hundred pounds worth of downloaded games that the "hacker" can now re-download to his xbox for free.

So Dean has been in touch with the Microsoft people who don't seem to be able to prove that Dean is the account owner despite him answer the security question, verifying credit card details and also the last thing he purchased. You would think this was problem solved, but nope, not with Microsoft, they decided it had to be dealt with by someone higher up, now Dean has been waiting for a call back for the last week.

Now 2 weeks ago a story hit Digg hard, about a guy who got his xbox stolen and then some guy started to harass the guy the xbox originally belonged too. The internet then took this into their own hands got the guy's xbox back.

What i want to do is the same, i want to get help from the internet to get Dean his xbox live account back by forcing the hacker's hand and Microsoft's hand. The account has a lot of money worth of downloadable games on it, this guy can steal these, the account has credit card information and has used this information to order 12 months of Xbox live again, the person is also trying to sell the account.

So please help Dean get back his account. Gamer tag "Deano 1989" - Lets get it back people.
