Found Animoto

Posted on 03 May 2008 18:00:42 by John Slater with 2 comments
On Friday i discovered an awesome too, it is easily one of my favourite new web services because it is so very easy to use and so very free. The service is Animoto, the best way to discribe it is that it makes pretty little videos with your photos, not a slideshow - a full blown video. The free version lets you have unlimited videos but limits you to 30 seconds for each but those 30 seconds will blow your freakin' mind.

Stolen Gamer Tag with over 51000 GS Points

Posted on 13 Apr 2008 13:59:10 by John Slater with 0 comments
So last week i heard from a friend (Dean) that his Microsoft Xbox Live account had been stolen. This didn't happen on its own, yes he fell into a stupid phishing trap which some might say is his own fault.

Yes he was stupid BUT it is a trap many people have fallen in to. This isn't just any normal account, this is an Xbox Live account with over 51,000 points and to some gamers may be seen as extremely valuable. As well as the several tens-of-thousands Gamer Score Points that his account possesses his account also contains stored credit card information so that he can purchase things from the Marketplace on Xbox Live as well as several hundred pounds worth of downloaded games that the "hacker" can now re-download to his xbox for free. ... I have finally settled on a design and have been busy coding it, over the next few weeks you will see some of the content disappear from the website because it is being moved to the new design website. Once all this is done you will notice that this website hosts all of the tutorials and scripts as well as my blog, and the new design website will have my portfolio and scripts that you can pay for. ... Page Rank 5 SPAM

Posted on 02 Mar 2008 17:40:29 by John Slater with 2 comments
Over the last month add2rss, Feed Mailer and JCWEB Europe have all been hit by spam. Not e-mail spam but website spam, spam that hits the source code. Somehow and for some reason all 3 sites have been hit by spammers who have not damaged or defaced the site, but instead added over 2000 hidden links to our source code. ... Read More

New Month, New add2rss

Posted on 02 Mar 2008 17:31:26 by John Slater with 0 comments
add2rss is now finished and online. Well its not complete but its in a state now that people can add the buttons to their site. That is all the news i have for you guys (and gals) so anything past this point is most likely ramblings or something about what i PLAN to do but not actually do. ... Read More

add2rss

Posted on 24 Feb 2008 14:15:13 by John Slater with 0 comments
Hola again everyone. I recently deleted a few things from the site, this was because some people may of found them offensive and that's the last thing i want to do. Okay while i recover from an awesomely crappy cold i have been brain storming some ideas down, one of them includes add2rss, its because extremely popular and i didn't realise until i looked at the stats last week. When a site becomes so popular the last thing you want to do is have really rubbish stuff on there including a design that took 5 minutes that was done about 2 years ago. Over the next few weeks add2rss will become a slater.john product and will only be associated with JCWEB as a promoter for Feed Mailer, it will get a brand new design which will be nicer and will also include better banners. Instead of outputting all buttons onto the banner i decided i will have one button that people show on their site, when a visitor clicks on the button a pop-up window shows all the subscribe options, this allows me to keep the subscription links updated which will take out one problem for the website owner. ... Updated Links Page

Posted on 16 Feb 2008 18:35:21 by John Slater with 1 comment
We finally have a good links page, and its about bloody time. Yesterday i spent 2 hours working on a nice little design for how the links page should look, then i started playing with PHP. After about 1 hour of that i got bored and started to play with PHP again, i found a really nice website that offered two PHP functions that would allow me to pull the title off another site. After this i got thinking of something cool i could use it for, moments later i thought back to the links page and my promise allow people to add their own automatically. ... Read More

Week Off with loads of work

Posted on 12 Feb 2008 17:28:20 by John Slater with 0 comments
Well this week is my week off college and work so it can't get much better than that. Well it can and does development on Feed Mailer SE begun again, its been almost 1 year since it was supposed to launch but delays and problems have set back the release. So at some point in the near future you will see the new site which isnt bad at all.

I have also started to send out letters and e-mails to companies to advertise my self and try and get my self some work, work has already started flowing in since the website launched, Google is being kind too and my new SEO skills are paying off. So now my portfolio will grow and hopefully i will be able to leave part time work to work freelance, which should pay more than work. ... Read More

Good afternoon, the register script is now working and perfected in a way, i'm sure it could be better but thats for another day. At this moment in time all you can do is register but i'm going to start work on a login script now, so you should soon be able to login which will give you nothing at the moment because of the lack of content.

Another day another task sheet

Posted on 03 Feb 2008 13:06:54 by John Slater with 0 comments
Today's agenda is coursework, lots and lots of coursework. Once my coursework is done i'm going to start planning some scripts in my massive notepad. One idea i'm looking into is a script that will allow visitors to sign up to this website and have access to special things, things like downloads, code downloads and loads of other cool things, this is an idea i have had for some time but i never find the time. Another special project that i was planning to do as an addition to JCWEB is a service that utilises other website scripts and brings them together to form one huge script that will one day rule the world. ... iPhone

Posted on 31 Jan 2008 20:40:44 by John Slater with 0 comments
Well this week has been the second most expensive week of the last year (the first expensive was the £1,200 i spent on the iMAC). Yesterday i got the impulse to buy a new mobile phone, this time none other than the magical iPhone, maybe i'm dumb, maybe i have more money than sense, others may say im a fan boy, to these people i say f**k you, f**k you and your fat f**king fingers. Still got a few stupid problems like not being able to receive voicemail and also my case is messing around with the touch screen, all will be fixed soon. Anyway that's my update, i bet you're glad you subscribed to the RSS feed now huh. ... Read More

Third Time Lucky. I have just updated the database thing again because for some reason it broke, which is a royal pain in the arse, its now all fixed and everything is working as it should be, the date and time thing is finally fixed and the URL structure for the news stories has changed. When you visit the full news story you will notice that the title of that news story appears in the URL, this is another SEO trick i learnt about and its what caused some of todays problems. ... Happy Weekend

Posted on 01 Jan 1970 0:00:00 by John Slater with 0 comments
Been doing my programming assignment all this morning, it appears to have gone well. The assignment was to create a game or quiz of some sort in any programming language, i chose PHP because its the only one im good at. I made a quiz about PHP using PHP, its not the best quiz and i dont think the questions are very good, plus its only five questions long, but it should get me a pass at the very least (aims for a D). Please feel free to try it out, it went together rather slap dash and im sure with some TLC i can make it into a good little script for the website. ... Read More
