V Festival 2009 - Weston Park - Day 1

Well it's been a week since V Festival 2009 kicked off so i thought i would post a list of the bands i ended up seeing and what i though of them.
Friday
Well the only thing that happened on Friday was were constructed a tent and carried too much food and beer across a field for about 1 mile. After that we started drinking (11am) and went into the arena for some looking around.

In here we met a new friend (pictured above) who told us all about his wacky job securing V Festival and how his job consists of a 20 hour shift stood in the same place making sure people don't get over a 20ft fence and run towards an empty stage. Which also had security. Odd. The guy was awesome though and despite his gangster watch he looks rather sophisticated.
Bjorn Again
They were the opening act for V festival on the main stage so i couldn't really not see them, although i wish i hadn't. Tosh. Toshtastic. Pants. Poo. Shit and Crap are a few words i would use to describe them. Abba are shit, they always will be shit and a tribute to shit is shit too. Infact more shit. Its shit-shit. Which is very shit.
Ocean Colour Scene
Not a bad band, opening song was a song i'd never heard and followed by Riverboat Song which i think made them famous or something crazy. They were good but couldn't dedicate the time to them so we pissed off half way through the set.
The Lightning Seeds

Bloody good band, they have an awesome selection of songs i didn't know they sang and obviously "Sugar Coated Iceberg" was going to be a winner. People didn't like the lack of the world cup song, but those people can eat shit and die.
The Proclaimers

We were at the 4Music stage anyway and nothing else was playing so we sat down and watch them play all 1 songs they are well known for, 500 Miles. The other songs were over my head, i hate them though, i hate ginger people, twins and Scottish people. So they were never onto a winner being a combination.
Biffy Clyro

Very good indeed, they played some good songs from their new album and what i think were songs from their earlier albums but they had a certain vibe that most bands didn't, so if you hated the music you were taken in by the atmosphere.
Ladyhawke

Another brilliant set, the atmosphere was amazing, shame the tent wasn't packed out because she certainly deserved it. The music was amazing live and the tent action made everything a little better i think.
Katy Perry

Well our campsite buddies kind of told us to go and see her because "she is fit" and i'm not one to argue with anyone from London (out of fear) so we listened to her and went to see Katy Perry and she certainly had to crowd jumping, and she was very very "fit" was expected.
Paulo Nutini

We just happened to be at that stage so we decided to stay and watch him. Until after the set i assumed he was french or something because i couldn't understand a word he was saying, apparently he WAS speaking English. The music was good though.
Snow Patrol

I wasn't a massive fan of Snow Patrol before, i have a couple of their albums but rarley listened to them. After seeing Snow Patrol i ask the question, why were they not headliners, they were amazing and i have some level of envy for Chelmsford who lost Oasis and got 2 sets of Snow Patrol. AMAZING!
Keane

So we decided to fuck Oasis off because they are shit, quitting Chelmsford proved that, and went to see Keane. Do not regret that decision. Keane were amazing, they had the crowd bouncing like spastics in a ball pool and i felt like a average size spastic, but the one that was in the dry (sick-free) part of the ball pool watching some sweaty guy march on the spot like a mentally retarded solider. Keane were at the top of my highlights for Saturday along side Snow Patrol and i urge anyone who hasn't seen them live to buy tickets next time they are released.
