V Festival 2009 - Weston Park - Day 2

V Festival 2009 - Weston Park - Day 2

Well day one was a very good start to V Festival with Keane playing us out with a selection of their amazing songs and epic dance moves that consisted mainly of marching on the spot, running up and down the stage and standing on the speakers, nevertheless it was a brilliant day.

On Sunday we were faced with a brilliant lineup made up of some of the bigger names in the festival such as The Script, Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, The Ting Tings, Razorlight, Calvin Harris and obviously The Killers headlining. So it was a difficult choice choosing which bands we went to see on the day, choices which seemed hard during the planning stage but on the day not so much.

McFly

Okay, we didn't technically see McFly because we were not paying attention to the stage, however we did walk past them as we travelled to 4Music, so i think if i'm going to consider "seeing Oasis" as actually seeing them, despite walking past the stage while they play one song, its only respectful i do the same for McFly. What did i think? Shit. Next...

Mr Hudson

A similar sort of decision to the one we made when seeing Ocean Colour Scene and The Lightning Seed. It was a name we recognised and nothing else was worth watching, so we went and chillaxed in front of the 4Music stage and watched Mr Hudson. Something that i found quite amusing is that he often said "This is a golden oldie" the reason it made me laugh is that he is only known for one song, Supernova, so how any of his songs could be considered golden or oldies is beyond me. His set was a good one though and i may even consider using my bandwidth to pirate his album when it is released. Supernova did get everyone up and singing along though, which was expected.

Red Light Company

Red Light Company - Live At V Festival

I had heard of this band before we saw them but wasn't a huge fan of their music so during their set i wasn't paying much attention, they did play a very good set though and their live music is pretty good. It was good music for queuing to use the toilets and trying to get a free roundtrees t-shirt, i did succeed at the toilets but not for the t-shirt.

Noisettes

Pfft. Why i even gave them the chance i do not know. They were pants.

The Script

The Script - Live At V Festival

This band was on my list of bands i wanted to see simply because i like the music they create and because it didn't clash with anyone we decided to go and see them. After seeing them my recommendation is not to buy tickets to see them live, they were not good and only made my wait to see the very beautiful Lily Allen more annoying. With that said we did meet an interesting person who we found quite amusing (pictured below)

Lily Allen

Lily Allen - Live At V Festival

I must say that Lily Allen has some very good tracks on her new album, can't say i'm a fan of her older stuff though, so respectfully i gave her the time of day and she should be privileged to have had me watching her as i was split between her and Dizzee Rascal, a position i never want to be in, especially at a festival.

The Wombats

The Wombats - Live At V Festival

Didn't really like their music before, live they were pants. Enough said about them, the one thing i regret is not just seeing them, but missing a bit of Lily Allen to see them.

Carling Interval

The Carling Larger Interval At V Festival 2009

So what is a festival without drink? i'm not sure, but its hard to remember with alcohol too. With a 40 minute gap between The Wombats and Razorlight i decided to cash in my last Carling beer tokens and get me some beer. 3 pints in 15 minutes must be a record, my memory following this is fuzzy.

Razorlight

Razorlight - Live At V Festival

I was very drunk watching Razorlight but i remember them being good, i also remember doing weird things with my camera, pictures i don't want to post because they weird, unfocused and of people i've never seen before. At least my memory of them was good though, the only thing that annoyed me is that by this point they were standing between me and The Killers.

The Randoms

V Festival Randoms - Todd aka T-Pain

So before i write my very bias review of The Killers i thought i would mention the random people we met at V Festival 2009. First of all during Lily Allen we met a very.... well.... drunken fella called Todd (aka T-Pain) who was very drunk and was hitting on random people, and their mums. I guess what was especially random about him was that he looked identical to someone i know away from V Festival, Craig O'Leary.

V Festival Randoms - Todd aka T-Pain

The second set of random people were a couple of girls from Warrington called Jen and her friend (forgotten her name) - and despite me being extremely drunk i found them very entertaining, mainly because of the semi-scouse accent they were donning. However during The Killers (during my random jumping around and singing) they left due to the overwhelming heat coming from the crowd and that, sadly, was the last i saw of them.

The Killers

The Killers - Live At V Festival

So The Killers were the soul reason i purchased tickets to see V Festival 2009 so they were going to be my highlight regardless of how well they performed. I wish i could say they were bad and that i liked Keane more, but i was always told "If you lie you go to hell" - hell doesn't seem like my sort of place so i wont.

The Killers - Live At V Festival

Without sounding like a mental fan i must say when The Killers took to the stage i almost cried, maybe it was the alcohol or maybe it was the person behind me violating me with his fingers, either way i almost cried. Kicking off any set with Spaceman is going to get the crowd jizzing in their pants but play a little bit of Human and Mr Brightside and you can have the crowd jizzing in each others pants. I've never jumped around and called it a dance, but i did during The Killers, putting my voice out while screaming and singing was another highlight, something i'm still recovering from.

The Killers - Live At V Festival

In short, The Killers were amazing, they closed V Festival 2009 for me and it's a memory i will live with, until i get hit by a car and loose all my memories, but at least then i can assume someone else identify and live a long life as John Long an international spy.

Thank You

Thank You V Festival 2009 - Me & Todd/T-Pain

I guess all i can say is thank you V Festival for making August 22nd and 23rd the best days of my life and thanks to The Killers for making everyone jizz in each others pants. All i can hope for now is that i get in touch with the random people i met (Todd, Jen and Jen's friend) and that V Festival 2010 will be even better. I've got my tickets already.
