Let me set the scene. Sunday 19th October 2008, i spent the prior Friday in Burnley on one of my regular night outs taking various pictures with the piss-poor 2Mpixel camera on the iPhone 3G. Saturday i awake with a somewhat bad hangover (not the worst hangover), i come to marvel at the pictures i took the night before. I find myself looking shocked as my iPhone flips the photos around in any direction. The cause. A broken accelerometer inside the iPhone meaning that it didn't know what direction it was facing.

I take my iPhone on a long painful journey to Blackburn as part of a random trip, i spot a Carphone Warehouse and approach it, i tell the clerk what is wrong with the poor iPhone (Accelerometer Broken and Screen not to good) and they offer, very kindly, to take my iPhone away for some fixing which i agree to, expecting it to take no longer than the said 14 days.

Jump forward 2 weeks and i hear that my iPhone is fixed and on it's way back to the Warehouse of Phones and Cars, however it won't arrive until Wednesday, which by my math is 17 days not 14 days. 17 days is closer to 1 month than 14 days is. This means i have paid £35 for an iPhone contract yet i have no iPhone to go with it.

Just to add to my pain i get told that i cannot have the phone delivered to my house, so now its going to be 17 days and the iPhone is going to a strange place and i have to travel 25 miles to retrieve it.

Jump back 14 days, the day i said good bye to the iPhone, i'm told i can have a courtesy phone, which i thought was very kind of them, they then explain that i must leave a £50 deposit for it. BUT WAIT. THERES MORE. I don't get a iPhone courtesy phone. NO. I get a shitty Nokia 6300. So not only am i saying "bye bye" to a phone that cost me £169 but i'm having to give them money so that i don't STEAL A SHITTY PHONE AND LEAVE THEM WITH MY IPHONE!

My advice to anyone with a sick iPhone is to simply put up and shut up. The Carphone Warehouse are useless and can't stick to deadlines.
