Update: Thank you to everyone who contacted me for help and to everyone I was able to help in some way. I'm no longer accepting applications so I can focus on freelance work and self-development.

Everyone is facing a very difficult time at the moment. Key businesses, charities and not-for-profits are facing problems with resources and keeping up with demand.

I'm a web designer and developer based in Lostock Hall (Preston) and have over 13 years of experience working with some of the UK's biggest businesses. I've recently found myself furloughed which means I have free time on my hands and I want to donate it.

I want to lend a helping hand to charities, not-for-profits and essential businesses who are struggling.

Here is how I can help

I want to use my years of experience to solve the problems that these essential services are facing.

Perhaps you're a local farm offering a milk and food delivery service but you're struggling to handle orders and enquires from customers and could really benefit from a website to take orders through.

Perhaps you're a food bank with no online presence (website, social, etc) and you are desperately crying out for donations or volunteers.

Perhaps you're a charity dealing with vulnerable people who just need to be connected with a person to talk to.

I can help build quick online presences and solutions to ease the strain.

Here is who I want to help

I realise businesses all over the country are struggling to either keep up with demand or drum up any business at all but I want to focus on the businesses and charities in my local community that are doing essential work but need help.

  • Essential businesses, charities and not-for-profits
  • In or around the Lostock Hall area (Preston, Bamber Bridge, Penwortham, Leyland, etc)
  • Need help with a technical challenge (website, email, social, marketing, etc)

I hope by doing this that people with a similar skill set in other areas will do the same.

How you can get help

I hope someone somewhere needs my help. Even if you're not sure whether a technical solution can help you, get in touch, it probably can.

If you fit one of the categories I've listed above please get in touch if you need some sort of help, I can probably help in some way. It goes without saying the time is donated free of charge.

Please get in touch with me by email and give me a few bits of info:

  • To: time@slaterjohn.com
  • Subject: Donating your time
  • Tell me about you, where you are and what you're struggling with
  • Deadline: 7th April

I want to help as many people as I can so even if I can't help you myself, I'll try my best to find someone like me who can.

We're all in this together so let's do what we can to help anyone we can - stay safe.
